Wordsmiths was founded in 1993 by Utrecht-based translator, editor and writer Mark Baker. Born and raised in the UK, he studied German and Drama in London and Berlin before settling in the Netherlands in 1991. Moving from legal and commercial translation into the fields of arts and culture, he has provided lucid, attractive and effective English-language texts for most of the major cultural festivals and institutions in the Netherlands, as well as large and small companies, government departments, schools, colleges and universities. He regularly translates plays, television and film scripts and edits the English-language daily newspapers of the two largest film festivals in the Netherlands.
